Very expected game in Kedainiai where 9th ranked Nevezis (8-20) was crushed by second ranked Lietuvos rytas (22-6) 78-59 on Sunday. The game without a history. Lietuvos rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lietuvos rytas outrebounded Nevezis 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) who scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Lietuvos rytas' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Lietuvos rytas maintains second position with 22-6 record having just three points less than leader Zalgiris. Nevezis lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 20 games lost. Lietuvos rytas will meet at home P.Zvaigzdes (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Nevezis will play against Lietkabelis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
