Regular Season Round 23: Mersin - Orduspor 120-59

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Mersin (17-5) smashed at home bottom-ranked Orduspor (4-19) 120-59 on Sunday. Mersin dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Orduspor's 38. They outrebounded Orduspor 55-22 including a 22-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 45 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Orduspor's players. The best player for the winners was forward Duygu Firat (189-90) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Emel Turkyilmaz (194-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yildiz Kaygisiz (-97) produced 21 points and 5 rebounds and forward Ferda Yildiz (183-93, agency: LBM Management) added 19 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Mersin. They maintain third place with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader Fenerbahce. Orduspor lost their eighth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Mersin will face Yakin Dogu (#12) in Lefkosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orduspor will play at home against Botas and hope to win that game.
