Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Sixth ranked Istanbul Uni (12-11) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 9th ranked Gelistirenler (9-14) 71-68 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. Her fellow American import power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. American guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) produced 15 points and 4 assists and the former international center Kristen Nevlin (193-85, college: Stanford) added 5 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Istanbul Uni maintains sixth place with 12-11 record. Newly promoted Gelistirenler dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. Istanbul Uni will face higher ranked Abdullah Gul (#5) in Kayseri in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gelistirenler will play on the road against Galatasaray (#4) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
