Regular Season Round 27: Bandirma Kir. - Mamak DSI 80-70

An interesting game took place in Balikesir where 13th ranked Mamak DSI (11-16) was upset on the court of sixteenth ranked Bandirma Kir. (9-18) 80-70. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 24-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Bandirma Kir. outrebounded Mamak DSI 33-18 including 21 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for center Metehan Akyel (206-96) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American point guard Richard Thomas (196-87, college: Angelo St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Bandirma Kir. players scored in double figures. American guard Ricky Harris (187-87, college: Massachusetts) answered with 25 points and the other American import power forward Brandon Peterson (204-90, college: Arkansas St.) added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Mamak DSI. Mamak DSI's coach Haydar Kemal Ates let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bandirma Kir. moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Final Genclik. Mamak DSI at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Bandirma Kir.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Gediz (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
