Regular Season Round 22: Turk Telekom - Anadolu Efes 87-89

Sixteenth-ranked Turk Telekom (5-16) gave a tough game to first ranked Anadolu Efes (17-4) in Ankara on Monday. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected much easier game. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Turk Telekom helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Croatian Dario Saric (207-94, agency: Beo Basket) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 10 points and 9 assists during the contest. Four Anadolu Efes players scored in double figures. Anadolu Efes' coach Dusan Ivkovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American swingman Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and his fellow American import power forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds. Anadolu Efes have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-4 record. Turk Telekom lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Anadolu Efes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Istanbul BSB.
