NBL top team - Lukoil Acad. (21-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Yambol (6-17) 98-75. The game was mostly controlled by Lukoil Acad.. Yambol managed to win fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lukoil Acad. forced 21 Yambol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-88, agency: Beo Basket) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international Filip Videnov (196-80, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Alti Sport) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Lukoil Acad.'s coach Toni Dechev felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian point guard Milijan Bocka (185-82) answered with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and power forward Denis Agre (205-88, college: Pepperdine) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Yambol. Four Lukoil Acad. and five Yambol players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-2 record. Yambol at the other side keeps the eighth position with 17 games lost. Lukoil Acad. are looking forward to face Rilski (#4) in Samokov in the next round. Yambol will play at home against Chernomorets (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
