Rather expected game when 9th ranked Academik Plovdiv (5-18) lost on the road to sixth ranked Spartak Pleven (11-12) 90-77. The game was mostly controlled by Spartak Pleven. Academik Plovdiv was better in fourth quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Spartak Pleven had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Academik Plovdiv was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Montenegrin-Serbian center Milovan Savic (205-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 20 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Serbian guard Uros Velickovic (190-83) helped adding 18 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (201-90, agency: Interperformances) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian power forward Bosko Jovovic (205-83) scored 16 points. Academik Plovdiv's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Spartak Pleven moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cherno More. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv keeps the ninth position with 18 games lost. Spartak Pleven will play against higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Academik Plovdiv will play on the road against Levski 2014 (#7) in Sofia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
