Very important is a road loss of third ranked Mersin (17-6) against twelfth ranked Yakin Dogu (8-16) on Saturday night. Visiting Mersin was defeated by Yakin Dogu in Lefkosa 73-57. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Mersin. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by guard Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: Connecticut) who scored that evening 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Kelsey Bone (193-91, college: Texas A&M) supported her with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Mersin. Center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) added 15 points and 14 rebounds. Yakin Dogu moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Edirne. Loser Mersin keeps the third position with six games lost. Yakin Dogu will meet higher ranked Botas (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
