Regular Season Round 33: Nevezis - Lietkabelis 76-81 OT

Ninth-ranked Nevezis (8-22) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Lietkabelis (13-17) in Kedainiai on Saturday. The visitors from Panevezys managed to secure only five-point victory 81-76. However their fans expected easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nevezis won third quarter 22-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Nevezis used huge pressure winning it 20-12 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-14. Lietkabelis looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Nevezis' players. Serbian guard Miljan Pavkovic (178-81) stepped up and scored 15 points and 8 assists for the winners and forward Arnas Labuckas (205-87, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Five Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) scored 22 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lietkabelis moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Siauliai. Nevezis lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 22 games lost. Lietkabelis will meet bottom-ranked Dzukija (#10) in the next round. Nevezis will play against Siauliai and hope to secure a win.
