Quarter-Finals Round 2: Etha - Apollon 74-91

Date: March 30, 2016
Apollon overcame Etha away from home to ensure the semifinal appearance. The game was mostly controlled by Apollon. Etha was better in third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apollon had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Apollon players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. American point guard Jay-R Strowbridge (183-88, college: Oregon) notched 33 points (!!!) (perfect from downtown making all seven shots !!!) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Chris Braswell (206-89, college: Charlotte) supported him with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Strowbridge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 28 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by American guard Andell Cumberbatch (196, college: St.Bonaventure) did not help to save the game for Etha. The former international power forward Christodoulos Kaskiris (207-79) added 14 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
