Benfica B (7-7) outlasted Terceira (11-4) in overtime by nine points 86-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Terceira. Terceira was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 21-12 charge of Benfica B, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 21-12. Benfica B made 27-of-33 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Terceira helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for swingman Ricardo Rosa (193-92) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Slovenian guard Aljaz Slutej (188-96) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Benfica B's coach Joao Tavares allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Matt Smith (201-91, college: Toledo) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) added 15 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Terceira. Benfica B maintains fourth place with 7-7 record. Terceira at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Benfica B's next round opponent will be Vasco (#6) in Porto. Terceira will play on the road against Angrabasket (#8) and hope to win that game.
