The game in Sarajevo was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Kakanj (2-4) played at the court of fifth ranked Spars Sarajevo (3-3). Spars Sarajevo did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 80-63 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-63. Spars Sarajevo shot 61.9 percent from the field. They also forced 22 Kakanj turnovers. The former international swingman Nikola Gajic (195-91, college: SF Austin) notched 25 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and international swingman Edin Atic (201-97) supported him with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Spars Sarajevo's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 9 points by center Obrad Tomic (206-93) did not help to save the game for Kakanj. Swingman Eldar Merdanovic (200-93) added 13 points. Spars Sarajevo moved-up to third place in I. Loser Kakanj dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Spars Sarajevo will meet at home Siroki Primorka (#6) in the next round. Kakanj will play against Leotar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
