Second Stage Round 9: Dragon Force - Illiabum 65-77

Rather predictable result in Porto where first ranked Illiabum (13-1) defeated 5th ranked Dragon Force (6-8) 77-65 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Illiabum. Dragon Force was better in third quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dragon Force to just 6 points in first quarter. Power forward Rafael Wildner (207-92) stepped up and scored 8 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Joao Figueiredo (184-79) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Pedro Oliveira (179-97) with 12 points and 6 assists and Jose Miranda (189-94) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Illiabum have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-1 record. Newly promoted Dragon Force keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Illiabum will face Atletico (#3) in Lisboa in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dragon Force will play on the road against Sangalhos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
