Regular Season Round 29: Istanbul DSI - Denizli 70-88

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Denizli (21-8) defeated on the road 17th ranked Istanbul DSI (8-21) 88-70. It looked good early as Istanbul DSI took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Denizli took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 18 points. Denizli outrebounded Istanbul DSI 43-32 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida) who scored 24 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) produced 20 points and forward Murat Erensoy (202-91) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Denizli and four Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. Istanbul DSI's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Denizli have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 21-8 record having six points less than leader Tofas. Istanbul DSI at the other side keeps the seventeenth position with 21 games lost. Denizli's next round opponent will be Pertevniyal (#10) in Istanbul and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul DSI will play at home against Gelisim (#9) and hope to win that game.
