Regular Season Round 24: Yesilgiresun - Galatasaray 84-87

Thirteenth-ranked Yesilgiresun (8-16) made lots of trouble for third ranked Galatasaray (17-6) in Giresun. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Yesilgiresun won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Galatasaray won last quarter 24-22. The winners were led by American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) who scored that evening 23 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American-Czech swingman Blake Schilb (201-83, college: Loyola, IL) supported him with 20 points and 4 assists. Even 20 points and 5 assists by American-Georgian forward Quinton Hosley (201-84, college: Fresno St.) did not help to save the game for Yesilgiresun. Bulgarian power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Galatasaray and five Yesilgiresun players scored in double figures. Galatasaray have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-6 record having just two points less than leader Anadolu Efes. Newly promoted Yesilgiresun dropped to the twelfth place with 16 games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Banvit BK (#5) in Balikesir. Yesilgiresun will play on the road against the league's leader Anadolu Efes (#1) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
