The game between Top Four teams took place in Sofia. First ranked host Lukoil Acad. (22-2) defeated 4th ranked Rilski (16-8) 83-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rilski. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-15. But Rilski won second period 28-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-88, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Serbian guard Branislav Ratkovica (192-85, agency: Beo Basket) who added 12 points and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Tristan Carey (193-91, college: Longwood) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lukoil Acad. have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 22-2 record. Rilski at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Lukoil Acad. are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Chernomorets (#10) in Burgas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rilski will play on the road against Academik Plovdiv (#9) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
