There was a minor upset in Istanbul where 8th ranked Usak Sportlif (12-12) was defeated by tenth ranked Besiktas (11-13) 95-91 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 14-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-91. Besiktas made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Randy Culpepper (183-89, college: UTEP, agency: Inception Sports) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. The other American import point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian center Khem Birch (208-92, college: UNLV) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and American point guard Giordan Watson (178-85, college: Cent.Michigan, agency: Beo Basket) added 22 points and 4 assists respectively. Five Besiktas and four Usak Sportlif players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Besiktas moved-up to ninth place. Loser Usak Sportlif keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. Besiktas will face TED Kolejliler (#13) in Ankara in the next round.
