Regular Season Round 33: Gmunden - Klosterneuburg 107-104

A very interesting game took place in Gmunden. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Dukes (16-17) to ninth ranked Gmunden Swans (13-20) 107-104 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dukes. It looked good early as Dukes took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gmunden Swans had a 20-16 second period charge getting the lead and Dukes were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 104-107. Gmunden Swans had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. 33 personal fouls committed by Dukes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was swingman Jemal Farmer (195-89, college: Arkansas, agency: Blacktop Management) who scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jarvis Ray (198-90, college: TCU) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Malik Cooke (201-89, college: S.Carolina, agency: Inception Sports) who recorded 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: Inception Sports) added 20 points, 7 assists and 6 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Dukes' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gmunden Swans maintains ninth place with 13-20 record. Dukes at the other side keep the fifth position with 17 games lost. Gmunden Swans' next round opponent will be higher ranked Raiffeisen Wels (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dukes will play against Arkadia Lions and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
