No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Phoenix Galati (16-16) defeated at home bottom-ranked Gaz Metan (5-27) 105-98. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gaz Metan won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Phoenix Galati shot 24 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Gaz Metan only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Gaz Metan 44-25 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Phoenix Galati players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Gaz Metan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Ukrainian center Yaroslav Lemyk (205-85) notched 24 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the effort and Serbian forward Milos Pesic (205-84, agency: 011 Sports) supported him with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Phoenix Galati's coach Florin Nini allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 12 assists by point guard Niksa Nikolic (195-91, agency: Beo Basket) did not help to save the game for Gaz Metan. Forward Alin Andries (196-91) added 16 points and 4 assists for lost side. Five Phoenix Galati and four Gaz Metan players scored in double figures. Phoenix Galati moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CSU Sibiu and Targu Mures. Gaz Metan at the other side stay dead last with 27 lost games.
