Important game to mention about took place in Plovdiv. Ninth ranked Academik Plovdiv (6-19) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 4th placed Rilski (16-9) 89-88 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Oscar Bellfield (187-90, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian power forward Bosko Jovovic (205-83) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. American point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) added 11 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Rilski. Newly promoted Academik Plovdiv maintains ninth place with 6-19 record. Rilski at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Academik Plovdiv will play against higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rilski will play on the road against Chernomorets in Burgas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
