Regular Season Round 35: Lietuvos rytas - Neptunas 95-88

The game between Top Four teams took place in Vilnius. Second ranked host Lietuvos rytas (26-6) defeated 4th placed Neptunas (16-16) 95-88. The game without a history. Lietuvos rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Lietuvos rytas players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Neptunas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79) who led the winners and scored 18 points. International power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) accounted for 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Five Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. American Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke) came up with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for Neptunas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lietuvos rytas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 26-6 record having just three points less than leader Zalgiris. Neptunas lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 16 games lost. Lietuvos rytas will play against Vytautas (#3) in Prienai in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Neptunas will play on the road against Siauliai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
