Regular Season Round 30: Sakarya BSB - Tofas 96-90 OT

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Tofas (27-3) in Sakaraya on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Sakarya BSB (20-10) in overtime 96-90. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tofas. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime then Tofas managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Sakarya BSB who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 13-7. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Tofas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Fikret Can Akin (190-83, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 24 points to lead the charge for the winners and American Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Five Sakarya BSB and four Tofas players scored in double figures. Tofas' coach Orhun Ene rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sakarya BSB moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Gediz. Tofas at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Sakarya BSB is looking forward to face Afyon (#7) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round. Tofas will play at home against Balikesir (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
