Regular Season Round 36: Zalgiris - Nevezis 95-73

Leader Zalgiris delivered the thirtieth victory on Wednesday night. This time they crushed 9th ranked Nevezis (8-25) 95-73 in Kaunas. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 44. They outrebounded Nevezis 39-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a quality performance of international point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Latvian point guard Kaspars Vecvagars (193-93) who added 17 points during the contest. Zalgiris' coach Sarunas Jasikevicius felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Taylor King (203-88, college: Concordia Irvine, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris (30-3) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Nevezis lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 25 games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home league's second-placed Lietuvos rytas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nevezis will play against Dzukija (#10) in Alytus and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
