Regular Season Round 36: Vytautas - Lietuvos rytas 80-77

The most exciting game of round 36 in the LKL took place in Prienai. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Lietuvos rytas (26-7) to third ranked Vytautas (19-14) 80-77 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Vytautas forced 22 Lietuvos rytas turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Sarunas Vasiliauskas (187-89) who scored 12 points and 7 assists. Ukrainian center Sergiy Zagreba (214-94) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytautas maintains third position with 19-14 record having eleven points less than leader Zalgiris. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Vytautas are looking forward to face Juventus (#4) in Utena in the next round. Lietuvos rytas will play on the road against the league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
