Monthey thumped Lugano at the start of the playoff campaign. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. Lugano Tigers managed to win second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Lugano Tigers to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Lugano Tigers 41-22 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Chad Timberlake (194-84, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and Serbian-Bosnian power forward Marko Djurkovic (206-87, agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Monthey players scored in double figures. At the losing side Croatian power forward Andrej Stimac (204-79) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Terrance Henry (206-89, college: Mississippi) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds.
