Regular Season Round 26: Karsiyaka - Konyaspor 82-60
Date: April 16, 2016
Very predictable result when sixth ranked Karsiyaka (15-11) rolled over at home 15th ranked Konyaspor (6-20) 82-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Karsiyaka. Konyaspor was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Konyaspor's 24. They outrebounded Konyaspor 35-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Karsiyaka looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international point guard Kenan Sipahi (197-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 6 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists. American-Guinea-Bissau center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Johndre Jefferson (207-88, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) added 14 points in the effort for Konyaspor. Four Konyaspor players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Banvit BK. Konyaspor lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Karsiyaka will face higher ranked Galatasaray (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Konyaspor will play at home against Besiktas (#9) and hope to win that game.
