Second Stage Round 16: ONMU-Vimar - Poltavshina 71-51

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked ONMU-Vimar's (7-6) home victory over 5th ranked Poltavshina (6-11) in Odessa 71-51. The game was mostly controlled by ONMU-Vimar. Poltavshina was better in second period 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Poltavshina to just 6 points in fourth quarter. ONMU-Vimar dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Poltavshina's 22. They outrebounded Poltavshina 55-31 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. ONMU-Vimar players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Poltavshina's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian forward Julia Gladchenko (184-77) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 18 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and center Anastasia Usova (185-90) who added 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Anna Stepanenko (170-90) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and forward Tatiana Zozulia (180-94) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. ONMU-Vimar maintains fourth position with 7-6 record. Poltavshina at the other side keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost. ONMU-Vimar will play against LDUFK-Skif (#6) in Lviv in the next round. Poltavshina will have a break next round.
