Very expected game in Vilnius where 7th ranked Lietkabelis (15-20) was crushed by second ranked Lietuvos rytas (27-8) 91-69 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-69. Lietuvos rytas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Lietkabelis' 26. They outrebounded Lietkabelis 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Lietuvos rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Lietkabelis' players. Ukrainian point guard Denys Lukashov (190-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos rytas maintains second position with 27-8 record having five points less than leader Zalgiris. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the seventh place with 20 games lost. Lietuvos rytas will face Dzukija (#9) in Alytus in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lietkabelis will play at home against Vytautas and hope to win that game.
