Second Stage Round 13: Vasco - Terceira 80-72

There was an upset in Porto where much higher ranked Terceira (12-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Vasco (6-13) 80-72 on Saturday. Terceira was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Point guard Miguel Toreia (180-93) fired a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Naturalized Angolan forward Paulo Ferreira (187-80) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Vasco's coach Hugo Salgado used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Fernando Ferreira (198-94) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Vasco moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sangalhos. Terceira lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with seven games lost. Vasco will face Angrabasket (#8) at home in the next round. Terceira will play against the league's leader Illiabum (#1) in Ilhavo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
