No shocking result in a game when third ranked Atletico (11-7) defeated on the road 6th ranked Sangalhos (6-13) 69-58 on Saturday. Sangalhos were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Atletico made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Sangalhos turnovers. Sangalhos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Sergio Ramos (200-75) fired 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Joao Manuel (192-79) chipped in 14 points and 4 steals. Atletico's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Luis Fonte (191-79) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Andre Duarte (178-81) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Atletico maintains third place with 11-7 record having five points less than leader Esgueira. Sangalhos at the other side keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Atletico will face Dragon Force (#5) in Porto in the next round. Sangalhos will play on the road against Benfica B in Lisboa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
