There was no surprise in Istanbul where 9th ranked Besiktas (14-14) was defeated by fourth ranked Galatasaray (19-8) 76-71 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 24-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Besiktas' 24. American-Azerbaijani center Charles Davis (205-84, college: Alabama) fired 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Gabonese center Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) produced 19 points and his fellow American import point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Galatasaray moved-up to third place. Loser Besiktas dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Galatasaray will face Turk Telekom (#15) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Besiktas will play on the road against Banvit BK (#5) in Balikesir and hope to win that game.
