Regular Season Round 33: Bandirma Kir. - Denizli 80-74

The game between second ranked Denizli (24-9) and twelfth ranked Bandirma Kir. (14-19) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Denizli was defeated by Bandirma Kir. in a tough game in Balikesir 74-80. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Denizli. Bandirma Kir. forced 19 Denizli turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard Phil Greene IV (187-92, college: St.John's) stepped up and scored 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and French center Murat Kozan (206-93) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bandirma Kir. players scored in double figures. Bandirma Kir.'s coach Menderes Gumusdal used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida) scored 20 points and 5 assists. Bandirma Kir. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Akhisar Bld. Denizli at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with Acibadem. Bandirma Kir. is looking forward to face Istanbul DSI (#17) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Denizli will play against the league's leader Tofas (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
