Regular Season Round 34: Istanbul DSI - Bandirma Kir. 97-92

We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (14-20) lost to seventeenth ranked Istanbul DSI (10-24) in a road game 92-97 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bandirma Kir.. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-21. But Bandirma Kir. won second period 29-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Istanbul DSI looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Mikael Hopkins (206, college: Georgetown) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Murat Erensoy (201-91) chipped in 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Richard Thomas (196-87, college: Angelo St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Ismail Cem Ulusoy (183-96, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Istanbul DSI maintains seventeenth position with 10-24 record. Newly promoted Bandirma Kir. dropped to the eleventh place with 20 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams.
