Regular Season Round 1: Neptunas - Vytautas 76-79

A very close game took place in Klaipeda between Vytautas and Neptunas. Vytautas (1-0) got a very close victory on the road over Neptunas (0-1). Vytautas managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 on Wednesday evening. Neptunas was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 18-10 charge of Vytautas, which allowed them to win the game. They made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Neptunas outrebounded Vytautas 50-38 including 17 on the offensive glass. The former international guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-82) nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side and Vytenis Cizauskas (187-92) accounted for 14 points. Vytautas' coach Virginijus Seskus used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds and international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) added 15 points respectively for Neptunas in the defeat. Vytautas will meet at home Dzukija in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Neptunas will have a break next round.
