But Bayer Giants were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Lich 99-93 on Saturday night. Bayer Giants were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard K.K. Simmons (191-93, college: Pikeville) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Lamar Mallory (198-90, college: Glenville St.) chipped in 21 points and 16 rebounds. Mallory is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Kerry Carter (188-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) responded with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Brandon Nazione (203, college: E.Michigan) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Licher Basket will face Dragons Rhoendorf at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bayer Giants will play against Weissenhorn Youngstars (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
