There was a surprise result in Frankfurt where Wuerzburg (1-1) won against Fraport Skyliners II (1-1) 80-67 on Saturday. Wuerzburg dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Fraport Skyliners II's 38. They outrebounded Fraport Skyliners II 44-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Lukas Wank (198-97) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Marcellus Barksdale (196-93, college: IUPUI) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. Center Cosmo Gruehn (205-98) produced 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Konstantin Schubert (195-98) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Wuerzburg will face Licher Basket at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Fraport Skyliners II will play against Weissenhorn Youngstars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
