Regular Season Round 2: Crailsheim - Heidelberg 67-72

Very significant was MLP Academics Heidelberg's (#4) 72-67 road victory against Crailsheim Merlins. Crailsheim Merlins were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Croatia guard Hrvoje Kovacevic (190-86) notched a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized Russia forward Albert Kuppe (200-88) supported him with 16 points. Five MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Even 7 points and 11 rebounds by Finnish Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) did not help to save the game for Crailsheim Merlins. American guard Craig Bradshaw (191-93, college: Belmont) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against Chemnitz at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Crailsheim Merlins will play against Baunach (#12) to get more than just one victory in their record.
