The most surprising game was a loss of SV Halle Lions (1-1) on the court of ChemCats Chemnitz on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by ChemCats Chemnitz 85-77. American forward Merritt Hempe (190-94, college: Georgia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. French guard Margot Vidal-Geneve (165-95) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Five ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) replied with 28 points and her fellow American import forward Sarah Hammond (188-93, college: Louisville) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for SV Halle Lions. SV Halle Lions' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. ChemCats Chemnitz is looking forward to face Hannover (#6) at home in the next round. SV Halle Lions will play against Rotenburg/Scheessel and are hoping to win this game.
