Baskets Grunberg used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Braunschweig 71-52 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Baskets Grunberg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Braunschweig's 28. Baskets Grunberg forced 21 Braunschweig turnovers and outrebounded them 47-17 including a 18-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Vanessa Zailo (180-92, college: Lindenwood) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds. American swingman Sarah Olson (173-93, college: Monmouth) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Baskets Grunberg players scored in double figures. American guard Felicia Barron (170-90, college: Quinnipiac) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Mareike Muller (180-95) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Baskets Grunberg will face TG Neuss on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Braunschweig will play against Osnabruecker (#8) and hope to win that game.
