Regular Season Round 2: Kryvbas - Cherkasy 71-72

Very important is a home loss of Kryvbas (1-1) against Cherkasy (1-1) on Sunday night. Host Kryvbas were edged by Cherkasy in a tough game in Kryvyi Rih 71-72. It looked good early as Kryvbas took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Cherkasy had a 26-14 second period charge getting the lead and Kryvbas were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-72. Center Igor Chumakov (208-90) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Oleksandr Kobets (197-96) supported him with 14 points. Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Even 22 points, 6 assists and 4 steals by point guard Igor Boyarkin (182-95) did not help to save the game for Kryvbas. Power forward Dmytro Tykhonov (205-92) added 6 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Cherkasy's next round opponent will be Budivelnyk (#5) in Kyiv. Kryvbas will play on the road against Khimik in Yuzhny and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
