Date: October 8, 2016
There was a minor upset when Wasserburg II (1-2) lost at home to Don Bosco Bamberg (1-2) 59-52. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 16-6. But Wasserburg II won third quarter 21-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Don Bosco Bamberg dominated on the defensive end, holding Wasserburg II to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Wasserburg II 42-28 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Estonia forward Janett Perv (179-91) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Liz Wood (178-93, college: Maine) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Canadian guard Brittany Moore (168-89) added 9 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Don Bosco Bamberg's next round opponent will be Homburger TG at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
