Yalova Vip was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Mersin 84-68 on Saturday night. Mersin Uni forced 24 Yalova Vip turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Merve Uygul (170-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 assists. American center Akila McDonald (193-91, college: S.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and forward Ebru Torun (-87) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Mersin Uni and four Yalova Vip players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mersin Uni will face Nevsehir Uni (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Yalova Vip will play against Edirne (#13) and hope to win that game.
