Regular Season Round 3: Weiterstadt - Heidelberg 41-87

BasCats Heidelberg (3-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed Weiterstadt (1-1) 87-41. The game without a history. BasCats Heidelberg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Weiterstadt to just 7 points in second quarter. BasCats Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Weiterstadt's 18. BasCats Heidelberg forced 27 Weiterstadt turnovers and outrebounded them 37-24 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Helena Chatzitheodoros (166-97) who scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ana-Maria Kammer (180-86) who recorded 9 points and 8 rebounds and guard Christina Krick (169) added 9 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BasCats Heidelberg's next round opponent will be Friendsfactory Germering (#3) at home, which may be the game of the day. Weiterstadt will play against Rhein Main Baskets in Langen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
