Regular Season Round 3: Mazeikiai - Petrochema 71-72

A very interesting game took place in Mazeikiai. It ended with only one-point home defeat of Mazeikiai (1-2) to Petrochema (1-2) 72-71 in the fight for the eighth place. It looked good early as Mazeikiai took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Petrochema had a 27-13 second period charge getting the lead and Mazeikiai was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-72. 24 personal fouls committed by Mazeikiai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Ricardas Verbickas (191-95) accounted for 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Petrochema players scored in double figures. Petrochema's coach Kestutis Narusevicius used entire bench in such tough game. Swingman Kostas Jonuska (195-92) came up with 28 points and 6 rebounds and Justinas Gecas (195-94) added 13 points respectively for Mazeikiai in the defeat. Petrochema's next round opponent will be Perlas-MRU (#3) in Vilnius and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
