Bottom-ranked Avantazh-Polit. (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-62 loss to fifth ranked Mykolaiv (3-2) in Mykolaiv. The game was mostly controlled by Mykolaiv. Avantazh-Polit. was better in third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Avantazh-Polit. to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Mykolaiv made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Point guard Vladyslav Tonchenko (185-89) nailed 15 points and 8 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Olexiy Onufriyev (202-82) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Avantazh-Polit.'s coach Valentin Kulibaba tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mykolaiv moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kryvbas. Avantazh-Polit. lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with four games lost. Mykolaiv's next round opponent will be Kremen (#9) in Kremenchuk which should be theoretically an easy game. Avantazh-Polit. will play at home against Budivelnyk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
