Regular Season Round 1: Fisica - Terceira 59-84

Terceira's 25-point road win over Fisica 84-59 was very exciting. The game without a history. Terceira led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Fisica's 26 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Fisica 39-19 including a 28-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Isaiah Ivey (188, college: Gardner-Webb) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Four Terceira players scored in double figures. Terceira's coach Daniel Brandao felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side Nuno Monteiro (180-86) responded with 17 points and point guard Ricardo Robalo (165-84) scored 12 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Terceira will have a break next round. Fisica will play on the road against Academia (#1) in Lisboa and hope to win that game.
