Very important is a road loss of second ranked Homburger TG (2-1) against eighth ranked Don Bosco Bamberg (2-2) on Saturday night. Visiting Homburger TG was defeated by Don Bosco Bamberg in Bamberg 70-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Homburger TG. The game was mostly controlled by Don Bosco Bamberg. Homburger TG was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Don Bosco Bamberg dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Homburger TG's 20. They outrebounded Homburger TG 49-26 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and Estonia guard Liisi Sokman (166-88) supported her with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 20 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Celia Marfone (183-94, college: Cal-Davis) did not help to save the game for Homburger TG. Her fellow American import point guard Elena Popkey (168-94, college: Oakland) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Don Bosco Bamberg moved-up to seventh place in South. Homburger TG at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Don Bosco Bamberg will play against league's second-placed Ladybaskets Wuerzburg on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Homburger TG will have a break next round.
