Regular Season Round 5: Marburg - Bad Aibling 78-67

Very expected game when 9th ranked Fireballs (1-4) lost on the road to fifth ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (4-1) 78-67. The game was mostly controlled by BC Pharmaserv Marburg. Fireballs was better in fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Bulgaria power forward Diana Voynova (192-88, college: Duquesne) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Lindsay Sherbert (184, college: Gonzaga) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import point guard Angela Pace (178-87, college: Robert Morris) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fireballs' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for BC Pharmaserv Marburg. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Wasserburg and Herner. Fireballs lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the ninth position with four games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked TH Wohnbau Angels (#12) in Noerdlingen and are hoping to win another game. Fireballs will play at home against ChemCats Chemnitz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
