Regular Season Round 4: Vytis - Zalgiris II 82-90

Everything could happen in Sakiai at the game between two tied teams. Both fourteenth ranked Zalgiris II and bottom-ranked Vytis had identical 0-3 record. But Vytis was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Kaunas 90-82 on Saturday night. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Zalgiris II looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Kristupas Zemaitis (192-96) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Gytis Masiulis (206-98) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) for the winners. Guard Paulius Beliavicius (194-88) replied with 16 points, 5 assists and 5 steals and point guard Gediminas Maceina (188-84) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Vytis. Five Zalgiris II and four Vytis players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II (1-3) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. It was Vytis' fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Zalgiris II will face Petrochema (#11) in Jonava in the next round. Vytis will play at home against Palanga and hopes to get finally their first victory.
