Regular Season Round 7: Neptunas - Juventus 75-60

Everything could happen in Klaipeda at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Neptunas and 8th ranked Juventus had identical 2-4 record. This time Neptunas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Utena 75-60 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Neptunas. Juventus was better in third quarter 20-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Juventus 41-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Martynas Mazeika (192-85, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 rebounds. Center Vytautas Sarakauskas (205-82) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) answered with 15 points and guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Juventus. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Neptunas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Vytautas and P.Zvaigzdes. Juventus lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Neptunas will face league's second-placed Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Juventus will play at home against the league's leader Lietuvos rytas (#1) and hope to win that game.
